2200 Years of Kites
Kites were first used for military purposes by Chinese General Han Hsin in 200 BC. He used kites to judge the thickness of an enemy's city walls. Han Hsin would direct his army to tunnel beneath the city walls to surprise his enemy. In the 1800s kites were used for scientific purposes. Today Socrates' range of kites are used for pleasure. Flying a kite on the wings of the wind elevates us above our terrestrial existence to imagine the life of our feathered friends.
Flying Pies
In the early 1800's, Haker, William Russell Frisbie, sold pies to Yale University students, who after eating them, would throw the left over tin base around the campus. Decades later Fred Morrison heard the story and changed the name of his poorly selling flying disc, the Pluto Platter. While he misspelled it as the 'Frisbee', the rest is history. New aerodynamically designed discs like the 'Aerobie' can fly hundreds of metres.
